Forklift Operator Training Program

Learn to operate a forklift safely and enhance your ability to become employed!

Elgin Community College offers a two-day, one credit-hour Forklift Operator training course. The course consists of 14 total hours of training and covers how to:

  • Safely operate a lift truck and prevent accidents.
  • Perform pre-operation safety inspections.
  • Identify hazards.
  • Use principles of safety.
  • Properly retrieve and store loads.

An operator's certificate will be issued upon successful completion of the class. All training follows guidelines set forth by OSHA and ANSI for safe operation of lift trucks.

Fall 2017 Training Dates:

September 16 & 23 (Saturdays)
9 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.

October 20 & 21 (Friday/Saturday)
9 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.

November 10 & 11 (Friday/Saturday)
9 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.

To register:

  • Complete the Online application. Be sure to select 'Certified Forklift Operator' as your program of interest.
  • Register online using the accessECC student portal, or register in person by visiting the Registration & Records Office in Building B, Room B105.
