Registration Procedures

Be sure to read this information to ensure a smooth course of study at ECC.

Academic Load

The number of semester hours of credit in which a student is enrolled in one semester.

  • Full-time load - enrolled in 12 semester hours of credit or more; 6 or more in summer.
  • Part-time load - enrolled in less than 12 semester hours of credit; less than 6 in summer.

Students who want to enroll in more than 18 semester hours of credit must obtain approval from an ECC academic advisor prior to registering. Students who are not in good academic standing (overall GPA below 2.0) have credit hour restrictions, see Standards of Academic Progress 1.102 for more details.

Note: A telecourse is counted as part of a student’s academic load for the semester in which he/she enrolled, not for the semester in which the student completes it.

Attendance Procedures

Students are expected to attend all classes in which they are enrolled and know the attendance policy of each of their instructors. More»

Class Cancellations

The college reserves the right to cancel classes which do not meet minimum enrollment standards or due to unforeseen circumstances such as inclement weather. The college will make every effort to contact you.

Class Prerequisite

It is the student’s responsibility to ensure prerequisites and minimum competencies for all courses are met. Students may be dropped from classes if they are enrolled in courses not consistent with placement testing and course prerequisites. Check Minimum Competencies Procedure»

Course Re-take & Repeatable Courses

Students may repeat any ECC course at the regular cost of the course under certain conditions. More»

Course Substitution & Waiver

Written permission from the appropriate instructional dean and faculty member is required to:

  1. Take a course or prerequisite not required in a curriculum and substitute it for one that is or
  2. To waive a course requirement, students securing written permission to substitute a course or prerequisite must place it on file with the Registration & Records Office. The course substitution process may be started with a faculty member or with the Academic & Transfer Advising Office.

Pass/No Credit Registration

Students opting for pass/no credit earn college credit for the course if they complete it with a C or better. More»

Students are only allowed one repeat for math, English, and reading placement tests within a one-year period. More»

Schedule Changes and Course Withdrawals 1.202

Students making changes to their class schedule after registering may make those changes online at accessECC Portal or in the Registration and Records Office. More»

Students receiving financial aid must contact the Financial Aid and Scholarships office, Bldg B, Room B156, every time they make any kind of change to their class schedule.
